Applications

The Airbus story is only the beginning for high-memory, passive RFID tags. Smart solutions with intelligent tags will find their way quickly into many industries in asset management and other business areas.

New applications : same infrastructure

Tego is enabling major advances in both where and how RFID technology is deployed. Patented technology allows applications to leap beyond identification and onto full-life asset management.

"This technology could take asset tracking and total life-cycle tracking to the next level"

Andre Nathanson, Director of Research Operations, VDC Research

 Features such as high-memory capacity and the ability to interface to other devices significantly lower the total cost of ownership compared to other approaches, including identification-only, semi-passive and active systems.

Tego tags survive the harshest of environments, including.:

  • Medical items repeatedly subjected to gamma sterilization
  • Engine parts exposed to high temperatures
  • Tagged assets where data must survive for decades

Tego products are fully compliant with ISO and EPCglobal standards, and readily interoperable with widely deployed UHF Gen 2 RFID  infrastructure.

Example use cases

Tego technology is applicable to many industries in use cases that include:

  • Recording asset history — e.g. maintenance records in aviation, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing;
  • Managing product configuration — e.g. traceability of parts in aviation, defense and automotive applications;
  • Increasing security — e.g. Secure smart cards with with biometric information that includes facial images and with sensitive data protected by NSA Suite B algorithms;
  • Proving authenticity — e.g. authenticated legal documents and records via digital signature;
  • Tracking assets in harsh environments — e.g. tags that can survive high temperatures in engines or repeated exposure to radiation in nuclear power plants;
  • Recovering from natural disasters or other events — e.g. accessing inventory and configuration of in-field assets by utility companies;
  • Battery-free sensing, monitoring and control — e.g. temperature, pressure, shock sensing, and environmental monitoring by transportation, building, and alternative energy companies.

Innovation

Tego is developing breakthrough technology that enables a whole new generation of applications beyond traditional RFID.

Advanced power harvesting enables monitoring, control and high memory functionality without the need for a battery.

Tags behave as remote agents that intelligently gather, store and provide information, when and where it is needed.
