TegoView™ SoftwarePast experience of suppliers in the retail supply chain gives some insight into early RFID deployment issues. Most suppliers were not familiar with RFID technology and had little idea how to program tags. This led to implementation delays and considerable costs. In some cases, suppliers pushed back strongly against tagging programs. Recognizing that adoption could be delayed by a lack of software in the market to support high memory RFID, Tego has pioneered user-level application software to work with high-memory tags. TegoView software runs on standard RFID readers and allows users to work directly with Gen2 tags having any size of user memory. With TegoView, users can easily initialize tags, write to user memory and display tag information in user-friendly form. TegoView supports the new ATA standard for writing to a tag and it provides pre-configured automatic reports for reader display. TegoView software is based on the Windows CE/Mobile .NET compact framework. It can therefore be easily integrated with existing enterprise systems and allow more efficient workflow solutions around established birth stations, inspection stations and MRO operations. Further development of suitable APIs are a straightforward means of enhancing TegoView’s functionality to interact with enterprise systems. The software makes it possible to access and or enter information about tagged items without requiring network connectivity to a ground support system or database. This simplifies many industrial work processes such as in-field maintenance operations, especially for applications that are intensive in paperwork or compliance. When network access is available, TegoView software allows synchronization of tag data with backend support systems. Tego has further developed such reader software to store graphics files on passive UHF tags and retrieve these images for display by the RFID reader. This opens a large, new set of industrial and military applications. Standard functionality includes:
